How good it is to be loved

We are very happy because yesterday our baby could have the feeding tube removed, for she has been able to drink all milk from a bottle. It is a huge victory for her, who can now enjoy the milk that makes her grow and get strong, and after that, sleep on a full belly in mommy's, daddy's or any of her aunties' arms.
All the 'aunties' that take care of her are very focused in this new mission. We have experienced wonderful moments with our beloved Vitoria, who keeps her eyes wide open to be nursed, looks at us with a tender look of someone who is happy to be able to eat, and she even cries a bit when her bottle takes to long to arrive.

Yesterday she started receiving antibiotics as a preventive procedure, for the last blood test results indicated an alteration that may be the beginning of an infection. Such things are normal during the post-surgery weeks, while she still has a wide region of her body still in the process of healing. Besides, her surgeon nee
ded to apply two more stitches on a part of her skin that had opened a little bit. Overall, though, she is doing very well, being very active, being nursed, surprising us like a beautiful gift of God, fragile and delicate, that came to our lives to teach us to see beyond appearances, and to love beyond expectations; to live one day at a time and to value small gestures such as to be able to eat, breathe, live...

And she keeps on living, ignoring all those people who said she would not live and, therefore, did not deserve the opportunity to be born.
She lives, as if saying: how good it feels to be loved exactly the way I am.

She came, perhaps to make us understand more about God's love.

Very healthy, very loved

This week has been full of victories for our little warrior. We spent lot of time with her at hospital, to compensate the hard days of post-surgery, when she was intubated and we couldn´t take her in our arms.

She´s going pretty good, and four days ago she started to be bottle-fed and, if she keeps on going well, soon she will have the fedding-tube pulled out.
She´s enjoyng this new phase when she doesn´t need to use the dressing on her head. Yesterday, she spent lot of time awake, and she didn´t want to lay in her crib anyway. She wanted to sit down, to stay in our arms, to stroll around the room...
We ask your prayers so that God keeps on blessing her recovery, the healing of the stitches on her head, her nursing, and that soon we can take her home, very healthy, very loved.

Our little miracle

Give thought now to the days which are past, before your time, from the day when God first gave life to man on the earth, and searching from one end of heaven to the other, see if such a great thing as this has ever been, or if anything like it has been talked of in story.
 Deuteronomius 4:32

All this he let you see, so that you might be certain that the Lord is God and there is no other.
So today be certain, and keep the knowledge deep in your hearts, that the Lord is God, in heaven on high and here on earth; there is no other God.
Deuteronomius 4:35; 39

Our beloved Vitoria is getting better each day! She´s again the little cute and smart baby we used to know. Yesterday she started to receive a bit of milk again, only 5 ml (0,17 oz) in each three hours, to get out of fasting, while she is still receiving sorus. She was so hungry today! We could take her and feel her protected and calm in our arms. And we thank God for have preserved her life, allowing the surgery to be successful and her recovering so wonderful. The stitches on her head are healing very well, and tomorrow she will be able to have a warm and delicious bath.

We are so happy and proud to show our little miracle, result of God´s mercy and love for our lives. Our beloved Vitoria de Cristo!

God is good

O give praise to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy is unchanging for ever.
To him who only does great wonders: for his mercy is unchanging for ever.
To him who took his people through the waste land: for his mercy is unchanging for ever.
Who gives food to all flesh: for his mercy is unchanging for ever.
O give praise to the God of heaven: for his mercy is unchanging for ever.
Psalm 136:1; 4; 16; 25-26

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men came up against us;
They would have made a meal of us while still living, in the heat of their wrath against us:
We would have been covered by the waters; the streams would have gone over our soul;
Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be wounded by their teeth.
Our soul has gone free like a bird out of the net of those who would take her: the net is broken, and we are free. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
Salmo 124:2-4; 6-8

Dear friends,
With so much gratitude we inform you all that everything was well on Vitoria´s surgery that occurred this morning. She´s still with a breathing tube and awaking from general anesthesia. It is a very delicate moment, when she needs very intensive care, with lots of controls and medicines. We ask you again for your prayers in order that she can be completly recovered soon.

Vitoria faced this surgery for covering and protecting the encephalic region that was exposed, avoiding the recurring infections that she suffered of, and to offer her more comfort and quality of life. It didn´t have esthetic objectives, so it wasn´t used any bone prosthesis, that would offer more risks for her, such as rejection and the need of other surgeries in a short time.
We thank so much all prayers, support and love we´ve received. God is so good and faithful and He is hearing our supplications.

God bless you all! This is our victory.

Four months, twice Vitoria!

Our beloved daughter is completing four months of life this week. How thankful to God we are for this time! This week she also achieved the weight of 3.600 kg (8 pounds), more than twice her weight of birth. Take a look how chubby and smart she is! We took some inedited pictures of her without the feeding-tube (one of these days she vomited and the feeding-tube escaped). Look how beautiful little mouth she has.

Beloved Vitoria, God bless you, we love you so much! You are a rare jewel with great value we´re having the privilege of loving, protecting and admiring.

Prayers for Vitoria´s surgery

Dear friends,
Vitoria´s surgery is set to May, 19th. It will be an intervention to cover the encephalic region. We are waiting for some answers from her health insurance and, also, following up her clinical situation, because she needs to be very well for this procedure.

We ask your prayers.

Ps. She keeps on so pretty, cute and great.
